Why You Should Use Waterproof Tile Glue in Bathroom?
Want your bathroom tiles to stay for years? Make sure you install them the right way using the right materials.
When we say “the right material”, we want to mention that you should use waterproof tiles, waterproof grout, and waterproof thin set mortar or tile adhesive.
Using waterproof tile helps ensures that your tiles, walls, backerboard, and substrate stay protected from water and moisture and related conditions even in a heavy-traffic bathroom used by more than five people on a daily basis.
Waterproof Tiles
Everyone wants surfaces in their bathroom to be waterproof. That is the reason why they invest in waterproof tiles, such as porcelain tile, ceramic tile, glass tile, polished stone tiles, and luxury vinyl tiles.
However, these tiles alone can never make your floor or wall perfectly waterproof. Why? Because, there are joining lines or tile joints between tiles. These joints are filled with a paste-like substance called grout, that, in many cases, is not waterproof.
Are Waterproof Tile Floor Waterproof?
Just to clear, waterproof tile floors are floors built using waterproof tiles.
When water, soap, or oil in your bathroom come into contact with your tile floor or wall, there are chances that they will be absorbed by the grout between tile joints. The tiny pores on grout lines may allow the seepage of fluids.
So, technically, your bathroom floors and walls built using waterproof tiles are not 100% waterproof. Their joints can held responsible for that.
Waterproof Glue
This is when waterproof glue and grout comes into picture. If you don’t want to use waterproof grout, you could consider sealing your grout lines to protect the quality of your tile floor from water and moisture damage.
Using waterproof glue or thin set will add many years to the span and performance of your waterproof tile flooring. It will safeguard the installation from damages of different kind, apart from preventing odor and the growth of mold, mildew, bacteria, and allergens in your bathroom.
